About Us
Native American Housing Services, Inc., (NAHSI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit housing developement organization formed in September 1999. NAHSI's primary mission is to develop affordable housing and provide housing advisory services for Native American Tribes within the State of Oklahoma. Since becoming a housing service provider, NAHSI has provided housing services to other communities, not exclusively for Native American Tribes.
In September 2002, NAHSI became a Certified Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) for the State of Oklahoma, as authorized by the State Participating Jurisdiction (PJ), the Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency (OHFA). Since 2002, NAHSI has developed or co-developed over Four Hundred and Fifty (450) units of affordable housing and has utilized over 8.5 million dollars of HOME funds.
Since becoming a CHDO, NAHSI has localized its efforts to an eight-county service area. The designated service area consists of Caddo, Canadian, Cleveland, Cotton, Oklahoma, Osage, Payne, and Pottawatomie Counties.
NAHSI as a CHDO emphasizes affordable housing as follows: Multi-family new construction (Elderly and General Public), Multi-family rehabilitation, Single family acquisition/rehabilitation, Single family new construction (rental and home ownership), and other affordable housing development opportunities.
NAHSI is a sub-recipient of the HUD/Kiowa Indian Housing Program
